on honda civics there is something you see very frequent that is a mind twister if you dont know this
if you have had problems with the transmission shifting?, or the spedometer not working right, maybe some studder like a misfire.
there is a bracket that might be causing all your problems.
the bracket is located on the back of the engine block and it is supporting the intake manifold, a harness runs right agianst it and what it does is eventually the wiring harness fails and the bracket starts rubbing up agianst the wires eventually it causes shorts and breaks and power issues and stuff like that.
HOW TO FIX IT.
remove the bracket imediately you wont have a problem when you remove it. but now fix any wires that might be broken or frayed. tape them up good then when your done individually wrapping wrap them all up together and your done, if i had a civic i would do it auto so you dont have the problem in the future but its up to you
the civics ive seen this on is a 4dr automatic, a 2 dr automatic, and a hatch back manual. but the hatchback was not near as bad it was more preventative maintence.

what i did was kinda more preventitive i suspected that might be why my guage light dimmer was working meaning i couldnt see my guages at night turns out that the switch was bad so i just ran the hot and ground wire to a racing carbon fiber coveredtoggle switch from autozone mounted to the right of the guages so now when i turn on my headlights i have to turn on the toggle switch for guage lights which i think is kinda cool i would rather it be a switch for a dry zex kit though lol its in the plans for future mods
