how would the engine react if the main relay were to give out completely?

it wont start if its the main fuel relay since it signals the fuel pump and injectors to allow fuel in the engine

she definitly wont start.. and shut off i guess right when it happened so its not something simple like a bad belt... everything powered worked ie. brakes and steering so im pretty sure she didnt loose an alternator .. you did have a good idea the fuel pump its self/ then a coil pack/ and finally the main fuel relay are my other options

i think the fuel pump is the most likely answer cuz i doubt the main relay would completely go out like that and the fuel pump dying would trigger the main relay to not let the car start

well all i know to tell you is start with the relay solder the contacts drill holes check the plugs to see if they have alot of gunk or deposites on them a fouled plug maybe not the cause but check anyway and take and continuity tester and test the wires to the fuel pump to make sure you dont have insulation missing on the wire somewhere or a short check the wires from the injectors with a continuity testor to unhook the battery before trying the continuity testor its made to use without power to the wires check the plug wires to put some of the boot grease you can get at the auto parts store on the wires distributor end and plug end and on the tops of the spark plugs to see if you lost a connection to your distributor that will keep a better connection with the grease and make sure to put antiseeze lubricant on the threads of the plugs before you reinstall them maybe best just to buy new plugs while your at it they are cheap and worth it get ngk plugs thats about the only really cheap or free ways i can think of to narrow down your problem
